WFCR is pleased to present its third Santa Fe Opera trip, where we'll enjoy new productions of Verdi's "Falstaff" and Mozart's "The Marriage of Figaro", plus a performance of opera standards by the acclaimed Santa Fe Opera's apprentice company.

Santa Fe is New Mexico's capital city and cultural center, located at 7,000 feet in the mountains. Its dry climate promises warm days and delightfully cool evenings. Revel in the historic city known for its architecture, museums, shops, galleries, fine dining, and of course, the world-class Santa Fe Opera, which brings artists and audiences from around the world to enjoy opera under the stars in one of the most dramatic opera houses in the world.

For those who have travelled to Santa Fe with WFCR in recent years, note that we've added several new elements to this year's tour, including sightseeing in Albuquerque, a visit to the historic Acoma Pueblo, and sunset atop Sandia Peak (with a ride on its high-speed tram).

SUN August 10
We depart Bradley International Airport at 7:45AM and arrive in Alburquerque at 1:03PM local time. (via Northwest Airlines with a connection in Minneapolis). A motor coach transfer to Santa Fe is provided. After check-in at our hotel, La Fonda, the remainder of the afternoon is at your leisure. Following an early dinner at LaFonda, we attend "Apprentice Scenes", a performance of fully-staged opera scenes by the Santa Fe Opera Apprentice Company.

MON August 11
After breakfast at the hotel, we head to the Santa Fe Opera's theatre facilities for a backstage tour, and a behind-the-scenes look at the costume shops for the productions of "Falstaff" and "The Marriage of Figaro" with the resident costume designers. Lunch (on your own) at the Opera Cantina with members of the Santa Fe Opera Apprentice Company. We return to Santa Fe for an afternoon guided walking tour of the historic Santa Fe Plaza. After dinner at one of Santa Fe's unique restaurants, we attend a fully-staged performance of Verdi's "Falstaff" at The Santa Fe Opera.

TUE August 12
After breakfast, we depart for a full day of sightseeing, first to New Mexico's largest city, Albuquerque; then to "Sky City", the Acoma Pueblo, one of the most famous pueblos in the Southwest. Settled in the 12th century on a 367 foot sandstone mesa, the pueblo, on the Acoma Indian Reservation, is the oldest continuously inhabited place in the USA. New Mexico Magazine | Acoma Pueblo. Lunch on your own. Later, we'll dine at one of Albuquerque's popular restaurants, before we travel to the summit of Sandia Peak for dramatic sunset vistas aboard the Sandia Peak Tramway, the world's longest passenger aerial tramway.

WED: August 13
After breakfast, we have a morning tour of major Santa Fe sites, including Loretto Chapel and Palace of the Governors. Lunch on your own. Your afternoon is at leisure to explore the museums on Museum Hill, the galleries on Canyon Road, or to relax poolside at the hotel. We have an early evening dinner and pre-opera "informance" at the Cantina at Santa Fe Opera, followed by a fully-staged performance of Mozart's "The Marriage of Figaro".

THU August 14
After breakfast, check-out and transfer to Albuquerque. We have time for a short visit and shopping in Old Town before airport check in. We depart Albuquerque at 2:10PM on Northwest, and arrive (with Minneapolis connection) at Bradley International Airport at 10:14PM.

Tour price includes: Round-trip air coach class Hartford/Albuquerque, all-local transportation by motor-coach in Santa Fe and Albuquerque; 4 nights accommodations at LaFonda in Santa Fe; 4 breakfasts, 4 dinners, all admissions to parks, attractions, orchestra seating for two opera performances and general seating for one apprentice concert; local transportation, guide services, and tips for local guides, skycaps and hotel bellman. A portion of the cost benefits the programs and services of WFCR. Not included: lunches, alcoholic beverages, items of a personal nature, travel insurance (highly recommended), gratuities to driver and guide. Air Taxes and government surcharges are extra.
