88.5FM WFCR, NPR News and Music for Western New England, licensed to the University of Massachusetts Amherst, seeks a creative, highly motivated reporter to work in its award winning news department. This is a general-assignment position based at WFCR's Springfield bureau requiring fluency in Spanish and English. The job requires reporting on Latino and emerging ethnic communities. Responsibilities include spot production, feature reporting and fill-in hosting for Morning Edition, All Things Considered and other programs.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or related field. Fluency in Spanish and English, must have proper command of grammar in both languages. Minimum of two years experience in journalism. Ability to report, write, edit, and produce high-quality news and feature material. Ability to travel to sources of news stories and work hours outside the normal business day
Salary: $34,800 - $43,600 (normal starting salary $34,800 - $39,200.) Excellent benefits.
WFCR is located in the heart of the Connecticut River Valley of western Massachusetts, a region renowned for distinguished educational institutions and a vibrant artistic and cultural life. The area is easily accessible to the major metropolitan centers of the Northeast.
